Looking for Flooring?

SPC vs Hardwood-Laminate

The ground that you walk on a day-to-day basis brings you one step closer to pursuing your day. The endless options of flooring can be overwhelming, but being informed is very important to guarantee a long-term option for your home. JMJ can ensure the guidance informing and installing the flooring of your hearts content. From LVP (Luxury Vinal Plank), to tile, ensuring you feel at ease every step of the way.

Luxury vinyl planks are often misleading, grouping and characterizing all options into one category. There are two main types of LVP’s, WPC and SPC. These options become confusing without the basic knowledge. Although they are grouped into one category the two planks couldn’t be more different.

WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) is made up of 4 layers…

Wood Plastic Composite

If you are in the market for a wood feel and are leaning towards LVP, JMJ strongly encourages making SPC your main choice. Here is why. WPC is made up of a wood composite which means if water gets in the cracks of the planks, beneath the film, it will absorb the water. This will lead to expansion and contraction of the wood. Which will result in mold.

The wear layer is the only thing protecting your floor from water. Since this flooring is made up of Wood it is at risk of getting wet and absorbing the water. Along with water absorption, WPC is not as durable as an SPC would be. They dent and can crack very easily with heavy furniture or appliances. The planks are thinner making them less durable.

Stone Plastic Composite

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) Is made up of 5 layers…

Stone Plastic Composite

SPC is made up of a stone composite making it 100% waterproof. Because of its stone core, this plank will not absorb water. The stone core makes SPC a more durable option, coming in different thicknesses and styles. Like tile This flooring option is ideal for any room in your home, even your bathroom won’t complain. SPC is also suitable for any home environment due to the wear layer of the board. Each planks wear layer is both scratch proof and UV resistant.
